Do you think it is wrong that Cynthia Hunter spent almost two months in jail for possessing a vial of dried cat urine?

Cynthia Hunter of Lithia was arrested on August 15th for what police thought was possession of a controlled substance. Turns out, it was just dried cat urine. Do you think it was wrong of police to jail her for almost two months while they waited for lab results?

There is no need to register, so feel free to let us know what you think.

Thats crap! while they waited to find out if it was meth or cat urine we were paying for her to be in jail (tax dollars) when there are countless numbers of murders and child rapists roaming free! complete and utter BS!

It's sad that America has gone from "innocent until proven guilty," to it's complete opposite.

The police just want to shake anyone down they can for money.

They arrest people for drug offenses but all they do is fine or jail them and don't offer any kind of counseling or programs.

Sure, it should be "innocent until proven guilty".  But, she may have been a dangerous meth possessor!  We can't let someone like that roam free.  She may have killed someone.

<please note, the above is sarcastic>

She is already a thief, why should she not be held to determine whether there were drug charges as well?

I think she should be deleted from society, not sitting in jail where my taxes pay for her

The cops who claimed it was amphetamines should be jailed for filing a false police report.

I am sure the police lab would have squeezed every possible minute speck of meth from the vial if any meth had been there ... courts may accept field drug tests, but that doesn't guarantee that they are accurate.  Holding someone on a charge without evidence (even if it is possibly pending evidence) shouldn't be tolerated, even if she was a thief.  Very rarely are shoplifters sentenced to months of incarceration without a hearing of the EVIDENCE!

You take your chances when you rob the Wal-mart, people.
Any reasonable person would have more reason to believe it was meth - a vial of cat urine is much more unusual than finding a crook with some drugs on them. In fact, it's an extraordinarily unusual thing to be carrying; looks very much like meth, and if you get mistaken for a drug user because of your own circumstances as a thief, I say tough - that's how the cookie crumbles.

Why did it take so long for the lab tests to come back in the first place? She said it was cat urine, couldn't they have checked where she said she purchased it? Couldn't they have tested it and had results back within a couple days? I'm quite positive they could have. And in response to Keb.. grow up.

What did she steal?  Also, did she really steal something or did she just go ahead and plead guilty to get out of jail and get it behind her instead of waiting in jail for a trial?  Why was there no bond set?
