I feel like I lost a friend...and I only knew him by tv. My prayers are with his family and news friends.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of Dick Fletcher, my prayers go out to his family at this time that God would comfort their hearts, and the memories they made in his 66 years with him on Earth, will always bring a smile to their hearts when they most need it....

Abc Action News has lost a valuable part of their weather team...not only a good and faithful friend...

I worked for a local Wendys restaurant at one time and remember when he used to come in and get a to go meal, He was always very pleasant and his smile and just down to Earth gentlemen style was a joy to have as a customer as well...
Thank you Mr. Fletcher for your warm and sincere smile, and your Tv family will grieve with your family... we are forever grateful....Never to forget...ALways in the hearts of many will you live...

My deepest sympathy to the family, friends, and coworkers of Mr. Dick Fletcher. I have been a Tampa resident all of my life and Mr. Fletcher was a constant in an ever changing world. I did depend on his forcast for my business ( I am a field Technician) and I had the upmost respect for his abilities and professionalism. I feel like I have lost an uncle and I am just a veiwer of his forcast, so truly my heart goes out to those of you who knew him on a professional and personal basis.

Today, God brought back one of his angels and our world will be a little sadder for it. May God bless his family, friends, and coworkers as they go through the grieving process. I send this comment so that all of you know there is a community that cares and hopes that what little encouragement we can give during this difficult time.

My husband and I were very saddened to hear of Dick Fletcher's passing. We did not know him personnally, but through his weather telecasts we felt that he was part of our family. We enjoyed his weather comments and especially remember him during Hurricane Elena. We were new in Tampa and his news reassured us. Our deepest condolesences to his wife and his TV family.

Although I no longer live in the Tampa Bay area (left in 2006), I remember enjoying his weather forecasts for the 23 years that I was there.

This is a very sad day. He was taken from us too early in his life, but God must have felt that his job with us was complete and that he was needed elsewhere. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.

23rd Psalm

It's obvious the Sherrif believes his team did everything possible and we are certainly all grateful they caught the guilty man (in my opinion they should've also charged the others in the trailer with aiding and abeiting). However, considering the sherrif's team of detectives never once asked to look inside the trailer where a known sex offender was residing is unbelievable. If what I understood from the attorney, i.e., other children in the neighborhood feeling uncomfortable while playing because they were being watched by the people in the trailer, being lied to by the trailer folks about a man's suspicious activity (running to and from a car) and then visably shaking while being questioned, were at the trailer for different reasons at least four times without ever once asking to look inside - our training and tactics as well as our laws really need to change. Law abiding citizens always assist law enforcement. Our good guys almost always catch the bad guys but of course there is always room for improvement. Mr Lunsford would win if I were a juror.

You could always count on Dick Fletcher being there for the weather especially during hurricane season. He will be greatly missed. My sympathy and prayers go to his family and friends.

I cannot remember not seeing Mr. Fletcher on t.v. i start everyday with him talking about the weather...if he said it i believed it ...he will always be the weather man too me ..he was was another WALTER CRONKITE...when he talked we listened....he will be forever missed....

I could not believe it when I heard the news, my father called me and told me. What a sad day for ABC action news, and for his family. My heart goes out to his family and friends. The Lord be with you all. He was an icon in our family home. I remember him as a little girl, and now as an adult. I don't think the news will ever be the same.

We have lost a great weather person. He guided us through the terrible hurricane season that year and we were not misguided by Fletch. Always straightforward about what we were expecting and didn't sugar coat it. He actually made our mind up about whether to evacuate in 2004.

Our family, like many of those in the Tampa Bay area, had been praying for Fletch's recovery and for his family since first hearing of his stroke last week. Today seemed to be a day that Fletch would have been very seriously interested in broadcasting to the viewers and making sure everyone knew of the fast occurring changes, but mostly about protecting themselves and their families. This morning's beautiful blue sky and white puffy clouds opened for Fletch to make his way without difficulty to God's meteorology department. As the day ends, we are left with the rain and tears of loss at his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Fletch's wife, family and all of Channel 10

A very professional person who possesed a natural likeness for all and most of all loved his job as shown by his thorougness. People like Dick Fletcher are very rare in todays society and will be missed Best wishes to his family, friends and co-workers.

I left the Bay Area last year to come back to New Jersey, but in the 18 years that I lived there, I would turn to Fletch when a big time storm was coming. There were three giants of Metrologists in the Tampa Bay area: Roy Leep, David Grant, and Dick Fletcher. Two of them are retired (Leep and Grant), and we lost sadly a third in Fletcher. It won't be the same without Fletch, especially, in future visits to the Bay area. To his family, my thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time, and you'll know that there is no more suffering, and that Fletch is in a better place. God Bless, RIP
