Flashpoint

Mean Girls on Flashpoint this Sunday Morning

By Brendan McLaughlin

Hillsborough school board member, Jennifer Faliero turned down my invitation to appear on Flashpoint this Sunday morning, but she couldn’t resist taking a subtle dig at rookie board member, April Griffin, who will appear.  Through her secretary, Faliero said that instead of appearing on Flashpoint, she will be preparing for that evening’s school board meeting- the job citizens pay her to do.  Oh snap!  Griffin must be red-faced with shame for squandering 20 minutes with me instead of doing the people’s work.

In any case, Sunday’s show is a good one. April Griffin and her like minded colleague and friend, Susan Valdes explain why they’re on the outs with the other five members.  Griffin, you may have read stormed out of a team building workshop last week after Faliero suggested Griffin get with the program or resign.

Wayne Garcia of Creative Loafing provides the best segment with jaw dropping details of the Tampa Sports Authority’s lease with the Buccaneers that includes:

-A flat annual lease payment that can never be raised for 30 years.

-The Glazers keep all ticket, concession and parking revenue even for non-NFL events

  like music concerts.

- Best (worst) of all, we taxpayers get to pay $1.5 million dollars this year to equip the

luxury and club seats with $4,000 dollar hi-definition television sets. It’s in the contract.

Catch Flashpoint Sunday morning at 11:00 on ABC Action News. Have a great weekend.

OHhhh -- that must be why the TSA pushed for the 'patdowns' so hard (all the way to the Florida Supreme Court just about) ... they must enjoy the kickbacks ... errrr --- revenue from that.
Isn't it wonderful?

I haven't seen the big flag yet ..... but can hardly wait. I'm ordering one of my own now that I read how legal it is FIFTEEN TIMES in the Tribune. Mine will be a bit different.  LOL !!!

Oh, Ms. Griffin and Ms. Valdes --- ROCK ON, LADIES !!! I hope you'll be able to catch up on that twenty minutes of the peoples' time.   I guess we'll see who is better prepared at the meeting.  From what I've heard Ms. Faliero is a potted plant or worse.  All this new energy is such a turn on.

I think one of the first things you should push is to return the public speaking portioin to the people.  Since Lennard cut down the speaking and won't televise public comments the school board, superintendent (the lovely ms elia) and the schools have gone completely MAD. To the point that people were forced to remove their children from Hillsborough County Schools.
Take care of business.  We're pulling for you.  And, watch your backs. You're dealing with a cutthroat bunch.

Whats even more shocking is the mass amount of pricey expensive tickets the County Commissioners have waiting at the club suite gates to give to all their friends(supporters to their campaigns) every year. With Jim Norman being the head of TSA its a no brainer to all the suite(sweet) deals the Commissioners get at once again tax-payers expense. Its not enough they fired 138 county workers from the library and parks dept. Its not enough that Jim Norman wants to build a sports complex on Buddy Johnsons property in Plant City, or a wetland at tax payers expense. Its not enough that Brain Blair, and Ken Hagan are dipping into the budget to support their 2008 campaigns. Its sickning. But hey folks its your fault for letting these clowns get elected every time. Get registered, then vote for responsible people to be in office. Remember its your money at stake here.
