Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections, Buddy Johnson almost agreed to appear on Flashpoint this week. At first, he said yes, but he'd have to re-arrange something. He's a little gun shy you see, after near daily face pummelings by the St. Petersburg Times over the details of his "interesting" financial dealings. (sample here) After it became clear he wasn't going to sit next to his opponent, Phyllis Busansky for a side by side discussion, we tried to schedule a separate interview to no avail. We made a date for later in the month. We'll see.
So this Sunday on Flashpoint, you'll get half the story, albeit an interesting one. Phyllis Busansky is a former county commissioner usually described as a "traditional democrat". She spent a lot of money in 2006 to lose to Gus Bilirakis for the congressional seat in district 9. Now, at 71 after a lung cancer scare, she's tan, rested and ready to join The Times and walloping Buddy between now and election day.
Bonus: Wayne Garcia gives a snappy rundown on Charlie, Pam and Gus. You know who we're talking about. You watch Flashpoint! This Sunday Morning at 11:00 See you then.
