Palin rape kit controversy emerges

The Associated Press reports that Republican Vice Presidential nominee, Sarah Palin presided over the only city in Alaska  that billed rape victims for the cost of rape kits and forensic examinations.

Palin had been in office for four years when the practice of charging rape victims got the attention of state lawmakers in 2000, who passed a bill to stop the practice.

Former Democratic Rep. Eric Croft, who sponsored that bill, said he was disappointed that simply asking the Wasilla police department to stop didn't work. Croft said he doubts she was unaware of the practice.

Come on guys!!! What next??

The liberal press and Obama operatives are trying to discredit this candidate
with every little detail of her life. Has Obama and Joe Biden been subject to
the same scrutiny??

The same guys who would be screaming about the conservatives looking into
the minute details of the Democratic candidates lives, are now conducting this
"witch hunt". I can imagine the headlines if the McCain Team lawyers were
publishing the same stuff about Obama or Biden.

And I am one of the independent voters that both parties are trying to impress!!!

Briaco:  This country is not run by you or me...every election has been won by the media.  Recent polls by "likely voters" are the new way to say, "stay home, your vote won't count. We know who's going to win"

I was on the fence about who I was voting for until Sarah P. came out to get the PUMA vote for the (R) team.  Her views, according to what I have read, are totally against what Clinton stood for, so I felt rather insulted by the suggestion that she was my "gal" now.

For all of us who do go out to vote, read it all, listen to it all....from Bill O to Keith O...extreme right to extreme left....the TRUTH IS IN THE MIDDLE

Remember that three (3) judges might be up for the Supreme Court.

There's a reason she's coming under more scrutiny than any presidential OR vice-presidential candidates - its because she's the LEAST QUALIFIED PERSON OUT THERE. She hasn't really said anything of substance. She just makes cutesy little hockey-mom references and everybody giggles. Once she gets thrown into a real, unscripted debate or interview she'll stumble and fall all over herself. When we made this selection I was floored.

But then people will just say "awwww, she seems so sweet" and it won't matter anyways. What if McCain gets elected and then god forbid something happens to him? Do you REALLY feel comfortable with her at the helm??? This is an election where the VP candidate is more important than ever, and she scares the daylights out of me. I've always voted Republican, but now they've got me unsure of how to vote. At least the TEAM of Obama and Biden seem more stable and stronger than the McCain Palin team. Plus this year all of the negative campaigning is just getting old with me. We seem to be doing much more of it this year, making us look desperate like we're grasping at straws for a reason to stay away from Obama. Thankfully I research and think on my own.

Obama is avoiding debates with McCain like the plague because he knows McCain would "reveal" what he "conceals", and would put him in his place. Instead he chooses to have individual interviews he can control. He had an interview at Colombia University (an extreme left) last night, where Obama went to school!  How convenient.

Obama thinks he can "change" these ruthless dictators' minds in other countries to stop war, when he can't even analyze his own preacher's mind that he's been seeing for 20 years! And when he did admit he didn't like some things his preacher was saying, Obama didn't stand up and talk to him about the issues.  What a leader, rest assured we'll be safe in his hands.

Even Biden admits Obama made the wrong VP choice, the obvious being Hillary. Through is self-centered ego, he now acknowledges he needs help, and befriends Bill Clinton as a new tactic and strategy, to gain Hillary hopefuls, making a deal with them because the Clintons will do anything to get back in the White House.  It's a joke.

And a lesser known fact, 25% of Democrat Super Delegates are UNION members or WIVES of Union members. Obama has made deals with them because they fund him. So his priority is with the Unions, NOT the people. It's a fact. So many times in Obama's past, he voted "present" on issues the Unions didn't want him to vote for or against. That's why, because they control him.  McCain refuses to be controlled by the unions, he works for the people.

Lastly, Michelle Obama is proud to be a black American who cares about the black communities in need for financial help, so why is she trying to be white, consistently spending money to have her and her two daughters hair straightened?

Briaco,

Here's a little detail of Joe Biden's life to scrutinize: In 1994, two years before Palin was elected mayor of Wasilla, Joe Biden sponsored the Violence Against Women Act in the US Senate. Senator Biden says on his web page, "I consider the Violence Against Women Act the single most significant legislation that I’ve crafted during my 35-year tenure in the Senate. Since the Act’s passage in 1994, domestic violence has dropped by almost 50%, incidents of rape are down by 60%, and the number of women killed by an abusive husband or boyfriend is down by 22%.” That is leadership I can believe in.

Now it has been established that Mayor Palin at least knew about her city’s policy of charging victims of rape to collect the forensic evidence needed to prosecute their attackers until the state legislature outlawed the practice in 2000. I have to ask, where was Sarah Palin’s leadership on this issue?

The "liberal press" has done everything possible to forward McCain's goal of destroying Obama. They spread every rumor about his reverend, flag lapel pins, the Muslim baloney, etc.  Obama has been on the public scene for 4 years already. He has shown himslef to knowledgeable and capable in the areas necessary to running this country, and he has shown wisdom and thoughtfulness in his selection of advisors and his running mate.

John McCain has shown his propensity for risk taking and rash decision-making by his selection of Sarah Palin, a governor he had only met the day before he selected her and had barely vetted. With only 2 months left before election day, the "liberal press" owes it to the American people to do the job McCain failed to do. To properly vet Palin so the American people can make an informed decision.

There is already ample evidence that Palin and the McCain campaign have lied about her accomplishments and qualifications. We Americans made a terrible mistake in twice electing George W. Bush to lead this country. We ned to get it right this time. The stakes are too high not to take shis seriously.

LOL  Wasilla Alaska has 9700 people in it.  Good grief, how many people are getting raped up there?   Don't they know who's doing it?   How much is the city going to make charging rape victoms for a test kit?  Absolutely mind blowing.

Is it true Sarah Palin believes dinosaur bones were put here by god to test her christian faith?   I've seen the video were she says we're doing gods work in Iraq.   Now I hear her that people in her church speak in tongues.  She believes in abstinence only for birth control, meanwhile she has a pregnant 17 yr. old daughter.

Have I crossed over into the Twilight Zone?

I would like to see serious citizens more concerned about the integrity of our voting on Nov 4,2008. There is a practice called "caging" that is an issue of concern in Michigan. I have mailed this link to Brendan with hopes that he may address the issue for voters in florida. We don't have the best record for voting integrity in Florida.

Since we are a state with record foreclosures it is not without concern that I ask this question.

If we want to make the best possible choice for the US, and want the presidential votes to be "accurate", the American people need to set aside any past party preference, and use their INTELLIGENCE. People need to leave behind any hype from the media given to either party, and really listen to what McCain & Obama are saying, then make your choice based on that. Don't let anyone around you brainwash you, or impose their beliefs onto you. You need to go with your instincts. Recognize the candidates intentions -who is genuine and who uses political personality or dodgy strategy to brainwash people into winning the election? Who's priority is with the American people, and who's seems to be with themselves? Because those ways will be used throughout the entire presidency, and if they aren't straight from the beginning, then we would never truthfully be informed on what's really going on in the country. This isn't a popularity contest, this affects all of our lives.

Your article has no objectivity.  You are spewing left wing venom  And the main reason you shouldn't be taken seriously:  NO RAPE KITS WERE EVER CHARGED TO VICTIMS in Wasilla, as evidenced by this official report by the city:

Your article, if it had made any attempt to be fair would have included this, but to you hacks, fair reporting is the last thing on your minds.

Republican senator from Nebraska says it's a "stretch" to say Sarah Palin would be qualified to be president if needed.Senator Chuck Hagel says Palin, his party's vice-presidential nominee, lacks foreign policy experience. Could Palin lead the nation if Republican presidential nominee John McCain could not? Hagel replied: "I think it's a stretch to, in any way, to say that she's got the experience to be president of the United States." Palin told ABC News: "They're our next-door neighbours and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska." Hagel took issue with that argument. "I think they ought to be just honest about it and stop the nonsense about, 'I look out my window and I see Russia and so therefore I know something about Russia'," he said. "That kind of thing is insulting to the American people. Hagel, a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has been a vocal critic of the Bush administration since the 2003 invasion of Iraq. In July, Hagel travelled to Iraq and Afghanistan with Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. Though he didn't expect to be asked, Hagel had said he would have considered serving as Obama's running mate.

The candidate's educational background is in the public record. From an earlier post:I for one, think education does matter in electing a leader. Barack Obama's Education: Graduated from Columbia University with a major in political science. Graduated Top of the Class from Harvard Law School. Editor of the Harvard Law Review. Spent 12 Years as a Constitutional Law Professor at the University of Chicago School of Law. Joe Biden: Graduated from the University of Delaware with a double major of history and political science. Graduated from Syracuse University School of Law. Both Democratic candidates have advanced degrees and are well educated, articulate and intelligent. The Republicans: John McCain graduated at the bottom of his class 894/899 at the U.S. Naval Academy. The Naval Academy is a tough school and demands both discipline and intellect. McCain has no graduate degree. Sarah Palin took 6 years and transferred to at least 5 schools before receiving a degree in journalism at the University of Idaho. Again, no graduate degree. There is no comparison in the superior educational accomplishment of the Democratic candidates over the Republicans. Obama and Biden are openly discussing issues with the pundits, media and American people. McCain and Palin stammer and fumble through their prepared speeches. McCain often has difficulty answering simple direct questions and usually changes the subject. Palin is off limits to direct questions and so far in her two (okay, one legitimate with Charlie Gibson) media interviews has supplied rambling, vague and often moronic answers. Do you want the guys with the A+ average running the country or the pair with a D- average? Obama/Biden is the obvious choice.

McCain/Palin has copied everything thing Obama has done because this man is so desperate to get to the White House.Palin stretches all her stories with the bridge to the lux jet that she just happen not to let the public know was actually used to transport jail birds from one area to another. Her latest is going around about
putting the Check book on linehttp://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/18/palins-transparency-proposal-already-exists-in-dc/Sarah Palin likes to tell voters around the country about how she “put the government checkbook online” in Alaska. We’ll bring that kind of transparency, that responsibility, and accountability back. We’re going to bring that back to D.C.”There’s just one problem with proposing to put the federal checkbook online – somebody’s already done it. His name is Barack Obama.

Nothing McCain/Palin says is the truth.McCain is keeping her away from talking to the reporters until after the election. She made a trip to Fl and wouldn't answer no reporters.
