Brian Blair's "Checkers speech" at the County Center Thursday hinted ominously at legal action against his opponent, Commissioner-elect Kevin Beckner. Without taking any personal responsibility for his 50,000 vote loss, Blair

re: Brian Blair makes a case for his own retirement

I don't believe the disgustingly offensive AIDS crack was an off-the-cuff gaffe. This was a planned statement delivered at the press conference Blair himself called. He must have decided ahead of time to explain his lawsuit using this disgusting example, which he considers to be an insult — as if the disease of AIDS is an insult!

The horrible part is not that this crap slipped out of his mouth, but that he called a press conference to say precisely this to all of us. Speaking to us as if he's speaking among people who agree with him that AIDS is a punishment or an insult. As if we are all hate-filled bigots like him.
