Like Magic, Donovan headed to Orlando

Six years, 27.5-million!  Not a bad chunk of change Billy D.  An incredible, yet ridiculous amount of money.  But then again, these are desperate times for the Orlando Magic. The franchise is crying for a new arena.  Their fan base is down.  And frankly, after Dwight Howard, their talent pool is limited.

Yet, Billy Donovan is ready to take the plunge into the college coaches graveyard known as the NBA.  But $5.5M a year guaranteed cushions the fall.  I'm not saying Donovan won't succeed with the Magic.  I'm just saying I hope he has a little MERLIN in him.

If it was not for the money the Magic offered,  Donovan wouldn't have even considered the move. But Donovan has a built-in upside.  He isn't going to New York, and will have the "Micky Mouse" Media in Orlando eating out his hand.

Ha, I've been saying it all along. Only a matter of time before he went pro. It's all about the money baby.

Good for Billy.  Though I think he will become the next Rick Pitino... bank his money and then return to college ball...

I see the career path now...take the Magic job, have a middling amount of success for a few years, wait for Gillespie to get fired, and THEN take the Kentucky job.

I believe Donovan should stay with the Gators, even though I am a GIANT Tennessee Vols fan (mostly the Lady Vols and the MENS Football team) and Alumni, Donovan should NOT let the money influence him. Gator Nation will not be the same. Look what happened to Spurrier, SPLAT!!!! If Orlando is looking for just TICKET sales then they should never have gotten rid of the MAIN Headliners, Shaq, Hardaway.
P.S.
Al get a Marlins Jersey on, Rays are NOT the team this year at least the Marlin have CHAMPIONS after their name. Tom Korun, YOU ROCK!!!!

Congrats to Billy Donovan !! Goodluck to him with the Magic, but he is walking into a franchise whos management seems to always bumble up the roster and find ways to tear down the team instead of building the team. Maybe they should hire Shaquille Oneil and Penny Hardaway to consult the front office on how to keep the good players and win.
