Patriots will survive Goodell's wrath

Roger, you softy.  I thought you were going to put the hammer to the Patriots.  Instead you fine Coach Billy $500,000 and the team $250,000.  That's a night at the craps table for these guys.  Oh, pardon me, you did take away the Patriots first round pick in the 2008 draft if they make the playoffs this season.  If they don't, they forfeit their second and third round choices. No problem, New England still has a fisrt round pick via San Francisco that brought Randy Moss from Oakland.

"Spygate" has become a farce. All this drama, the anticipation of penalities that would have teeth.  What do we get?  A pint-sized slap on the wrist.

Jimminy Christmas!  If we got caught cheating in the real world, it would likely be our job!  I've got your M.O. now.  You'll lay the wood to the players, but not the owners.  My mistake, that's right, they hired you.

Memo to Billy and the Pats:  For $250,000, I'll sit in the stands and fire off snap shots of the opposing signals!  That would make it an even mil, and you'd still get what you wanted..another Super Bowl championship.  Winning has its price!

tom, you've got it all wrong. $500,000 is the maximum allowable fine under NFL rules. If Goodell went over that he'd get sued by the NFLPA, and lose. Then you'd be writing about what an idiot he was for not realizing that. C'mon, you can do better.

I think he should have gotten more. In fact I think he should be put out of coaching, because down the road he will be going into the HOF and you mean cheating coach should be amitted. No. way.
I thought Goodell would do more. He should have gotten more punishment, suspended for a year at least.

I am a diehard Panthers fan. But I have always been in awe of the Patriots, even after Super Bowl  XXXVIII , when I think we gave them all the game they could handle. I would be ashamed if I found out that John Fox had been doing the same thing as the Patriots and I would feel that he should be suspended along with the imposed fines. What kind of message are we sending? I love NASCAR too, but let's face it the rules change from race to race and enough is enough. When rules are broken by our children, or they are caught cheating it tears at the heart of the parent. I sympathize with the Patriot fans that now have to deal with this shame, which wasn't any of their doing, they're just loyal fans. I don't understand why someone would have to cheat. Whatever happened to "The Love Of The Game"? Not enough was done to make this man think about the impact he has made on all NFL fans and probably never will. All that was done is that he was put in "Time Out", like you would do to a child that misbehaved, nothing impacting, devastating or remotely life changing. It's sad and I wish for all fans I could turn back time on this black mark on the NFL Legacy.
