Hello from Piscataway, New Jersey. Funny thing going on around here. There's a very low key approach to tonight's game. Rutgers fans must be saving themselves, and the 1,000 or so USf Bulls fans must be spread around the NYC/NJ area.
Don't get me wrong, the Bulls should be well represented tonight. But this Thursday night game has probably thrown a wrench in the usual pre-game celebrations here in NJ..
As for tonight's matchup - Rutgers has one weapon, and that is RB Ray Rice. He rushed for 202 yards last year vs. USF at Ray Jay and the Bulls lost 22-20. If this guy gets loose tonight, trouble for the Bulls. USF's defense must set the tone early and keep Rutgers from gaining any early momentum. If they stop Rice, they'll win this one by 7-10 points, if they don't, they lose.
In combination, the USf offense just needs to be serviceable. Hence, NO TURNOVERS, and DO NOT to make something out of nothing. Ben Williams and Mike Ford will loom huge tonight. Thye have the capabilities to sting this Rutgers defense. You know and I know it, the Rutgers "D" will key on Grothe tonight.
At this writing, the Bulls are two point favorites. They are ranked #2 in the country. But, the only thing that matters is which team comes the most prepared on a very short week.
TK's prediction: USF 24 Rutgers 21. A field goal wins it. Hopefully it's USF kicking it..
