This is something that has been bugging me for years now, and I can't hold back any longer. GET RID OF THE CEMENT RUNWAYS LEADING TO THE LONG JUMP PITS NEAR THE SIDELINES OF HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL FIELDS, NOW!
I don't want to hear about the expense, it's a matter of safety for the players. I have seen countless players scrap their legs and knees, and one of these days a serious injury will occur. These cement runways are uneven, and in some cases raised and jagged on the sides from the level of the grass.
Please replace these cement runways with a synthetic surface, or at the very least, lower the runways were needed and put a protective mat over it.
These athletes I see covering the Big Game each Friday night for Friday Football Frenzy are faster, stronger, and more talented each and every year. Why put them in jeopardy of injury when it should be avoided.
Each school's AD should take note of this and submit a work order to their respect county AD. Excuse the vent, but it high time something is done about this potential threat to the safety of the student athletes.
