Imagine finding out your company is for sale, and your new owners will be taking over in three months. Then you come to find out, the new ownership is screwed up, splits up, and a new group is ready to pony up. The feeling would stink, wouldn't it. Everything happening around you, likely impacting you, and nothing you can do about it.
Well, that's what the Lightning players are going through right now. Oh, they won't care to admit it, but it's there. No coincidence that this bad patch the Lightning started began around the time the ownership went into flux. Now their stuck with a Detroit group which doesn't give a darn about whether the franchise wins or losses. Thye just want to sell it, period.
If I were the Lightning players, I would approach this like "Major League." The heck with the owner. Give it a run, not for anyone but themselves.
There is far too much talent on that team to be near rock bottom in the NHL. I know the boys are sick of our questions. John Tortorella and Jay Feaster are going nuts trying to figure out what's wrong.
Mark my words, there will be trades made. As Jay Feaster it's easier said than done this year in the NHL....Only about 10 trades have been made. Jay tells me the big three are off the table, at least until the new ownership takes over, whoever they are.
But he did not mention Dan Boyle. Dan isn't talking.....And we're not allowed to talk to Dan. That's a directive from the front office. What that's all about is anyone's guess. Stay tuned here. Something is a brewing, just not sure when the whistle will blow.
