It wasn't exactly a full class over at Buc Headquarters Tuesday. First day of Optional Workouts, and there were a few no-shows. The most glaring was Running Back Earnest Graham. No official reason was given for his absence, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with money. Graham just might be looking to get some cha-ching for last season. He might deserve that raise, but the Bucs are not obligated to give it to him since he is under contract.
Others missing today..QB Chris Simms and Brian Griese. Philip Buchanon was reportedly one of the defensive players AWOL. Can't say. I was concentrating on the offense.
Talked to Warrick Dunn today. He must be showering in the fountain of youth. Warrick looks just like he did when he left Tampa for Atlanta. If he can look the same on the field as he did back in the Dungy era, that would be a thing of beauty.
Also talked to Jeff Faine, the high priced center that's taking over for John Wade. Liked Faines answer when I asked him about the money and the pressure that comes along with it: Faine basically said there is no pressure--in fact by the time he tees it up, the money will be in the bank anyway.
Jeff Garcia also talked today. You could tell he's like every other NFL veteran. OTA's in April @#$! However, Garcia did say that he was pleased to be in a place for a second consecutive year. So are we.
Cadillac Williams made a cameo during stretching exercises. It's way to early tio even predict or worry about where he is in rehab. He's a nice guy, and I'm pulling for him to make a comeback. Caddy was always up front with me and honest with his answers.
More later.
