Five days after looking absolutely foolish on the hill at Tropicana
Field, Andy Sonnanstine looked absolutely masterful on the hill at
Tropicana Field.
Andy was dandy, tossing his first career complete game...a 3-hit
shutout against a White Sox team that had slapped 9 runs on the board
the night before.
But, that was Friday night.
Saturday was a different story. Sonnanstine struck out four and lowered
his ERA to 5.55....pretty good considering he entered the game with a
sky-high ERA of 8.80.
I was pretty mad at Andy after he gave up homers to Johnny Damon, Alex
Rodriguez and Morgan Ensberg last week before he even got to the third
inning. He looked like a guy who had no business on the a major league
mound.
Now, I'm not so mad. Now, I'm pretty impressed. Now, I'm anxious for his next start.
Andy is no staff ace...but I wouldn't mind seeing a few more starts like Saturday's.
