It's done. KC Defensive End Jared Allen is headed to Minnesota via a trade that the Bucs had no way of matching.
In exchange for Allen, the Chiefs will reportedly get Minnesota's first-round pick, #17 overall, and both of the Vikings third round picks. Even if the Bucs were able to match what Minny offered KC, who's to say they would have. It's a hefty price, but Allen is definitely one of the premier DE's in the league. Had Allen not had multiple DUI convictions, I'd say the Vikings got what they paid for. However, if Allen slips up again, and I would hope the Vikings covered themselves in their player contract with Allen, the DE could be suspended from the league for an entire year.
So far it is Minnesota's gain, and gives them arguably the best defensive line in the NFL.
I would say now the Bucs will be looking for DE in the draft.......whether they go after one in the first round........stay tuned.
