It's hard to believe that USA Today's top three MLB rookie list doesn't include Evan Longoria.
My guess is their head is buried in the Northeast sand. Perhaps they should take a look back at all the games Longoria has played in. There is no better rookie defensively in the league, period! To take that further, you'd be hard pressed to find a third baseman in baseball that has pulled off the defensive plays he's made.
Aside from his stellar play in the field, Longoria has made great strides at the plate.....6 RBI's two nights ago......the winning RBI Double Sunday. The kids's the real deal. I'll bet you dollars to donuts that the rest of the country is waiting for the Rays to fade from the AL East scene.
Maybe they should realize that the Yankees are too old, the Orioles stink, the Blue Jays are Sybil and the Red Sox are defintely the team to beat in the division. But as of tonight, the Rays are 10-games over 500, and a 1/2 game in front of the BoSox for the AL East lead.
The Rays are for real.
