A year ago, the Buccaneers couldn't wait to get him back from injury.
This season, one regular season game and he's been handed the "home version".
Jeff, thanks for saving jobs at One Buc...but unfortunately, the NFLis the world of "what have you done for me lately."
Was it the fact that he actually had an opinion when the Bucs were so openly flirting with Brett Favre?
Imagine if there were reports the Bucs were talking to Bill Cowher about Jon Gruden's job. I would think Gruden would at least be tempted to speak his mind.
Was it the calf injury in preseason?
When was the last time Garcia was healthy for an entire season? Try 2002.
So Garcia has fallen on the sword like Chris Simms, Bruce Gradkowski, Brian Griese, Brad Johnson, Shaun King, Rob Johnson. And the list will undoubtedly grow again this season. But for Garcia to go from job-saver to outcast this quickly is noteworthy even for Buccaneer standards.
The thing is, Garcia isn't even the backup qaurterback. Against the Falcons he was the third quarterback behind Griese and Luke McCown.
Is Garcia really that hurt? Did Garcia get that bad that quickly?
Or, did Garcia upset the wrong people by wanting a contract extention and protest about Brett Favre a little too much?
Rest assured we will see more quarterback changes.
Rest assured nobody knows that more than Brian Griese.
