Sports Talk - Tampa Bay Sports Blog

The Trop was hopping

It was electric around Tropicana Field for the final game of the Rays-Red Sox showdown.
This entire series was a preview of what to expect in October.
Yet, Tampa Bay fans have taken major hits nationally for not selling out all 3 games to the biggest series in team history.  It is the subject of national radio shows and ESPN.
With Minnesota coming to town, things get real interesting.
What kind of crowds will hit the Trop as the Rays go for the playoff clinch?
In reality those crowds should beat the Boston crowds.
Obviously, the Red Sox Nation won't collapse upon the Trop.  But there should be more Rays fans that want to see their team make history.
I still hear all the same excuses...it's a school night, gas prices are too high, some still hate the location.  I'm sure this week the trouble with the stock market will come up.  Bottom line, if this is truly a major league market, then Tampa Bay fans need to come out to see one of the biggest stories in baseball history.
The playoffs are right around the corner.  Will the playoff games be soldout?  Can you imagine the humilation if they are not?
The remaining home games are every bit as big as the Red Sox series.  And it is time for this area to respond like a championship team all the way around.

Of course the playoff games will be sold out.  Why do you think we aren't going to the September games.  Could it be because we used up all our cash paying for  October tickets.
