GREEN BAY VS. TAMPA BAY
Line: Bucs -1
TK vs. Spread 2-0
If trends have a say in this game, the Bucs are in good stead. They have won five of the last six meetings against GB at Ray Jay.
Here's what we're looking for on Sunday. There is no way Brian Griese will wing it like he did against Chicago last week. We expect the Packers defense to throw eight in the box, and force Griese to throw. However, I am expecting a much better output from the RB's this week. There are ways to beat the eight in the box to stop the run, and the Bucs have that in the game plan.
Green Bay has a very worthy pass rush. They'll be coming, and they better beware of the screen play. Griese is very good at selling it off play action. The matchup to watch on the offensive line is Bucs RT Jeremy Trueblood vs. Pro-Bowl DE Aaron Kampman. Kampman has four sacks already this season. The GB defense has nine sacks total. We'll see how it goes, but it may require to leave a tight end in to assist on either side of the line.
GB will be without Al Harris in the secondary, which will be a plus. Not sure what Mike McCarthy is thinking right now, but it appears that Tramon Williams will spell Harris at RCB.
GB Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has settled in nicely in the starting role. What the Bucs defensive line has to do is make Rodgers day as unsettling as possible. That means PRESSURE, PRESSURE, and more PRESSURE. If he is standing unmolested in the pocket with a four-to five wide package on the field, he'll rip the Bucs apart. I don't usually put the onus on one area, but I have to this week. The D-Line posts, Bucs win, no question.
Forced turnovers have been coming in bunches for the Bucs D. Hope they trend continues Sunday.
I am still waiting to see something out the Dexter Jackson as the KR guy. I'm beginning to think he is soft, and not make to be a return guy. Prove me wrong, rookie!
Then there is the most unfortunate and tragic matter concerning Matt and Melissa Bryant's family. As you know by now, they lost their youngest son, Tryson, on Wednesday morning. He passed away in his sleep at 3-months old. I won't even imagine how deeply this will affect Matt, if he plays. I personally ask that all Buc fans at that game, if Matt plays, and takes the field, give him a standing ovation. I don't care if he makes a field goal all day long. Matt and Melissa need to know we care, and that's all that matters.
So, now it's time to lay it on the line. History dictates that this game is going to be right near the spread, or it's going to be a win either way by 7 points or more. I like the Bucs this week, and if it's close and the team needs a field goal, I'm going with Matt.
TK'S PICK: BUCS -1 ENJOY THE GAME!
