Houston drives the Gators Nutt"s"

Leave it up to Houston Nutt to find a way to beat the Gators at Florida Field.  How in the world did Mississippi pull this off?  For one, they are better than the credit given coast to coast.  But, no way did I think they had a chance to win in Gainesville.

The loss comes at a time when USC opened the door to a "one-loss and your still in the national championship picture."  That door was reserved for the elite in the Big 12 and SEC, which boast the two toughest conferences in college football.

However, Florida's loss to Mississippi won't be looked at kindly by the pollsters.  Had it been Georgia or Alabama, that would be different.  It wasn't.  Florida will need plenty of help to get back into the big picture, beginning with Ole Miss, which might surprise everyone as the season goes on.

The Gators deserved to lose.  Not only did the defense get smoked on a bomb that cost them the lead, they missed an extra point (are you kidding me), and then couldn't convert a 4th and one late in the game.  Oh, let's not forget the three turnovers, two of which gave Ole Miss the kickstart to today's comeback.

This loss will sting, and god help Arkansas next week.  Florida will play this one one the road, but they will head to "Hog" country with a purpose.  One more loss and they will be eyeing the Outback Bowl.  Good for us in the Tampa Bay area, bad if your from Gator nation.
