There is life in the Tampa Bay Rays.
Despite falling behind early.
Despite giving up a pair of two-run leads.
Despite allowing Boston to tie late on a wild pitch.
The Rays win Game 2 of the ALCS 9-8 in 11 innings. The game finally wrapped up well after 1 am Sunday.
Now the Rays head for Boston with the best-of-seven tied at one win apiece.
The Rays have made wild victories in an artform. Game 2 was exactly that with homers by Evan Longoria, BJ Upton and Cliff Floyd. Boston countered with 4 homers. Joe Maddon nearly depleted his bullpen. He even called upon rookie David Price to wrap up the 11th.
Upton won it in the 11th with a sacrifice fly. But credit Fernando Perez for making it happen with a daring dash for home and the win.
Matt Garza will get the start in Game 3 Monday.
