Truth be told, the Rays have not been the same since blowing that 7-0 lead at Fenway Park in Game 4 of tthe ALCS.
Since...the Rays have dropped 5 of 7 in postseason play. And the Rays have not hit a lick.
Runs were so easy to come by in Boston. Now, the Rays have to fight, scratch and claw just to get one run. The meat of the Rays order -- Pena and Longoria -- have disappeared. They are oh-fers in the Fall Classic. The 8th inning in Game 4 says it all. If there was ever a time when the Rays needed to pull it together for a comeback it was now, yet Pena and Longoria open the inning with strikeouts.
That said, Philadelphia bats have finally come alive.
It looks as bad for the Rays as it did for the Red Sox at Fenway. We saw Boston fight its way back in it. Can the Rays muster what it takes to bring the Series back to the Trop?
All they have to do is beat the hottest pitcher in baseball -- Cole Hamels -- in his park, in the biggest game in decades for Philadelphia.
If you saw that Red Sox rally at Fenway, you know anything is possible.
