I have to say, I’m impressed with how quickly the Lightning is developing as a team. Sure they have talent, but to get that talent to work together takes time. We have seen marketable improvement in the power play, and scoring in general. Their goaltending has been above average to plain excellent. Most importantly, recent efforts have resulted in at least a point per game.
I wasn’t sure about the Barry Melrose hire. But so far, I have seen nothing but progress being made. I would expect that by the middle of December, we should see even more improvement, which would put the Lightning in a possible playoff push.
They have collected one point so far on their five game road trip. Four more games to go. This is as much a personnel check for the Lightning as it is a character check. We’ll be watching.
