Once again, the Bucs defense answers the call. All week long, the talk was Minnesota RB Adrian Peterson. With four consecutive 100+ yard games, some thought that five in a row would be a mere formality. WRONG. After a 71 yard first half for Peterson, Monte's crew put the hammer down. For Peterson in the final 30 minutes, 14 yards. No 100 yard day on this day.
In fact, in the second half, Minnesota's offense was held to a total of 64 yards Give the Bucs offense some credit here. Ball control had plenty to do with it. But when the defense hit the field, they pitched a second half shutout. Had it not been for the offense's inability, once again, to score TD's in the redzone, this game would have been over by the fourth quarter. It wasn't, and the Bucs defense answered with two sacks and one forced fumble that sealed the deal. Just another day at the office for this defense at home. If they could only carry that act on the road.
As it stands, the Bucs are 5-dash-0 at home this season, best start at home in franchise history. Today's win puts Head Coach Jon Gruden 4-0 all-time against the Vikings.
CB Ronde Barber recorded his second sack of the season, 23rd of his career. Barber now ranks second among current defensive backs in career sacks. (NE Rodney Harrison has 30.5)
Kicker Matt Bryant was 4 for 5 on field goal attempts, tying a career high for the most field goals made and setting a career high for the most field goal attempts.
