Hal Steinbrenner now controls New York Yankees

As of today, by virtue of a requested vote from the Steinbrenner family, MLB owners have passed control of the New York Yankees to George Steinbrenner's son, Hal.  This move marks the end of a 35-year reign for George Steinbrenner as boss of the most storied franchise in baseball.

Perhaps there are a number of Yankee fans wondering what happens now with Hal in control.  Fact is, Hal has been running the daily operations of the team for at least a year and change.  His older brother, Hank, has been the most visible, and involved in the team's on the field operations.

But I can say this, meeting Hal almost eight years ago, then in his early 30's,  you knew then he would be the man in charge.  At one point, he wasn't too keen on taking over, following in the pattern of his father. Hal has a very brilliant mind for business, and, at least at that time, preferred to do his work behind the scenes.  Whether that changes, to a point, remains to be seen.  Hank has done just fine with the media.  I'm also anxious to see whether the Yankees actually go out and spent mega-millions to land every free-agent ace pitcher available.  Something tells me that just might not happen, to at least the extent some believe.

However, from my personal viewpoint, the New York Yankees are in very good, sensible hands.  That should make Yankee fans feel better.  I know it does the Boss.
