HEAD COACH JON GRUDEN
(On injured players) "The only players that didn't practice were Brian Griese and Alex Smith, and Jermaine Phillips was limited. It was a pretty good practice."
(On RB Noah Herron and if he can contribute right away) "We could sure use some help. That's why he's here. Rich Bisaccia's been meeting with him trying to teach him not only the offense, but special teams. He is a quick study. He's a smart guy, played in the league before. With his body, his size, he can help us on the punt team covering kicks and doing a lot of things. He's a guy we're evaluating and trying to coach up and bring up to speed as soon as we can."
(On if Williams is mentally ready to play) “He'll be given an opportunity when we all agree that that's the right thing to do for our team. This is not all about Cadillac Williams right now. This is about our team. We've got a number of issues right now and we're working through it. We like what he's done. We've said that for a long time. There's a chance he's up this week, but we've got to evaluate the entire picture here and we're in the process of doing that."
(On how hard it is to score in the red zone) "It's hard for everybody. We realize we've got to do better but we've been down there more than anybody in the league, almost. A lot of teams are having a hard time getting the ball down into the red zone. We've got to do better, we've got to score touchdowns. And we will. I'm confident in that. But there are a lot of good things we're doing – our third-down conversions, time of possession, we're doing some very good things throwing the football."
(On if this game "should" be won by the team in the playoff race) "I don't really have a lot of feeling on that other than we need the game. We need the game. We've got to have the game. We're in a heated battle right now with a lot of people and we need the game. What people say is their opinion. I just know we need the game."
(On how hard it is for a player like Joey Galloway to adapt to a different role) "I'm sure it is tough on him. It's been tough on us. We've had to make a lot of adjustments not only at running back but on our receiving corps. But he plays the same position that Antonio [Bryant] plays and you can't deny the fact that Antonio's playing great. Not good – he's playing really outstanding football. They're kind of stacked at the same position.”
(On if Jimmy Wilkerson might get more playing time) “He's in our seven-man rotation, plays inside and out. Coach [Todd] Wash has done a good job of using all seven guys. We like his versatility. He can give us some inside nickel rush and he can also come off the edge. He's a good football player. He's a really good addition to our team."
