It seems lately, at least, the NFL has at least one Buccaneer player under consideration for their weekly awards. This week it's the veteran defensive back out of Virginia honored by the league.
Cornerback Ronde Barber was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week. This was a lock pick. Ronde had two interceptions, one for a TD against Detroit. His first interception set up the go ahead TD after the Bucs fell behind 17-nothing. This is Barber's eighth time being named to this award, and the first time since 2006. It is also the second time this season a Bucs defensive player has won this year. Derrick Brooks was named in Week 4.
This group will have to post in a big way this Sunday against New Orleans. Drew Brees and company is coming to town. All it took was three big plays by Brees, and that was the difference in week one.
