Update on Lightning Right Wing Martin St. Louis, Melrose saga

With a minute to go, and down by a goal, the Lightning pressed for a shot at overtime.  Then came a moment when a win or loss didn't mean much.

A freak deal.  Wrong place at the wrong time.  Lightning winger Marty St. Louis was cut on the forehead and nose by the skate of linesman Derek Arnel.  An inadvertant occurrence that sent St. Louis rushing to the bench, and later received around 10 stiches to close the gash.

Marty is fine.  The Lightning are hoping he will be available for Thursday's home against Colorado.  Best news for this team in some time.  Right now, he is this team's MVP.

*********

On another note, the Lightning apparently is still pursing a breech of contract by former Head Coach Barry Melrose.  It appears that a clause in the contract, although the Lightning would not specify, precludes Melrose from opening his yap and bad-mouthing the organization.  Can't blame the Lightning for giving this a go.  Melrose, is getting paid over $2M for 16 games of work.  Egos are getting bruised in this post-firing barrage of words.  May I suggest that both parties shut their yap, because in this case, both sides are being petty.   Owner Oren Koules is a young, passionate guy.  So is his co-owner Len Barrie.  Gentlemen, don't stoop to this level.
